What Are Viruses

If you own a computer, you probably have heard of a computer virus. Or you may be one of those people that ask, "what is a virus?" when asked if their computer has a virus. Alternatively, the other question they ask is, "what are computer viruses?" Many new computer owners have numerous questions such as what are the best free virus software available or what are computer viruses lesson plans.

As for the best free virus software, this is hard to answer because each software is good against certain things. I tend to believe with certain things that you get what you pay for. This is not to say that the free virus software isn't good. I just think the software that you purchase will give you better protection and better technical support in the case of a problem. If, for some reason, you can't buy virus or anti-virus software, check with Consumer Reports or check into free virus software reviews and see what they say.

Computer virus lesson plans are when students in computer classes look at different viruses, discuss what kind of viruses they are, how and why they are created and what they can do to get rid of them or prevent them from invading their computers.

What are some types of viruses is another question asked by many as well as what are computer viruses? A computer virus is a program made to copy itself to another computer and infect it without the owner of that computer knowing about it. The ways a virus can be spread is by having contact with the 'host' computer over the network, in email, a floppy, CD or USB drives or if another infected computer is on the same network.

Some different types of viruses are worms, spyware and Trojan horses. They and computer viruses all are part of a family known as Malware. They each do their own damage and each need to be prevented. Worms use the network to get from one computer to another so it is important to keep your internet and computer firewall and anti-virus protection up and running at all times. Spyware is usually in the form of pop ups or can be someone trying to steal information from your computer. You get most spyware from downloading things that offer you other free things. To avoid spyware, make sure you have a good anti virus & internet security program. Lastly, Trojan horses, which are the worst. They act like viruses traveling through email, websites or the web. They allow other viruses and Malware to enter your system. Sometimes they are hard to remove and can only be removed with a good anti virus program.

Three very common questions involving viruses are what are the common viruses, what are the names of all the virus and what are the treatments for all the viruses? Spyware, Malware, worms and Trojans are the common viruses or types. As for the names of all the viruses, there are thousands of viruses out there and new ones being made every day. The best treatment for all the viruses are removal by the means of a good anti-virus and internet security program and always keep your program up to date to avoid having this problem again.
